We're wearing our footy colours for kids with cancer!

Every year more than 950 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer in Australia. With treatment starting instantly they face, on average, more than 6 months away from their school and school friends.

This year, we're taking part in Fight Cancer Foundation's Footy Colours Day to help these kids!

All the money we raise will help the Fight Cancer Foundation to provide accomodation and support for cancer patients and their families and fund vital  life-saving research into cancer treatment and cures.

The accommodation centres offer families living with cancer a home away from home when they need it most, reducing the financial and emotional burden of a cancer diagnosis.

Childhood cancer

Childhood cancer refers to various types of cancers that develop in children and adolescents aged 0 to 14. While rare, it is the leading cause of death by disease in children. The most common types include leukaemia, brain and central nervous system tumours, and lymphoma. 
Common Types
Leukaemia: Blood and bone marrow cancer; the most frequent diagnosis.
Brain tumours: Grow in the central nervous system; the second most common group.
Lymphoma: Starts in the lymphatic system.
Neuroblastoma & Sarcomas: Solid tumours affecting nerve cells, bones, or soft tissues.
Key Warning Signs
Unexplained, persistent paleness or loss of energy
Frequent or unusual lumps, bumps, or swelling
Unexplained and lasting pain in a specific body area
Frequent headaches accompanied by vomiting or nausea
Sudden, unexplained weight loss or ongoing fevers 
Survival and Support
Overall survival rates have risen to over 80% due to advances in clinical research and precision medicine programs like the Zero Childhood Cancer Program. 
Specialized treatment is centralized through major pediatric facilities, such as the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Sydney.
